Another phrase for "Mass Survival Bunker"?

Asked: Another phrase for "Mass Survival Bunker"?

I'm trying to title this photo series I've been working on, and I'm stuck.
All the pictures are of places that used to be storage, and then had to be rapidly turned into fallout shelters for as many people as possible. That's the feeling of the pictures anyway, underground places where people would have to live in the event of a disaster that ruined the surface.

So what would you call these new underground homes?I want the phrase or word to explain this concept in a simple way, but that would still get the audience thinking.

what should i have in my survival kit/backpack?

Asked: what should i have in my survival kit/backpack?

It really depends on how you intend to use it and the conditions in your area.If winter months are cold in your area extra clothing and protection against the elements would be highly important but only in the winter. You wouldn't need mittens if it's mid summer.

Any 'survival' pack should contain food and water to last you for at least three days.Everything else will greatly depend on the environment you expect to have to use it in.

A signal mirror or whistle may be a consideration as would the ability to make fire.

Keep in mind that everything weighs something.I've seen people stuff a pack with so much crap they could barely carry it a dozen yards.Remember that a 'survival' pack isn't meant to give you luxuries, it's only meant to help keep you alive until help can arrive or until you can reach help on your own.

Question about water storage?

Asked: Question about water storage?

So everywhere I look, I seem to get a different answer.Does anyone out there know how long you can REALLY store water?I have seen 6 months to a year, and a 2-3 years, all the way up to indefinitely!

I want to start storing water in case of an emergency but if my water goes rancid and I don't know about it then it probably won't help save me at all!HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks everyone!

"over the top" wwi question?

Asked: "over the top" wwi question?

What was the survival rate of going "over the top" to no-man's land and attempting to take the enemy's trenches? My teacher told me that the men that charged forward basically went on a suicide mission. If they weren't killed in no-man's land by the machine guns and mortars, then they were killed in the enemy's trench cause they weren't enough of them left and the enemy overwhelmed them.

Is that correct? I want to know the percent chance of a soldier in WWI coming back to home trench alive.

Thanks!

What would you do in a Zombie Apocolypse?

Asked: What would you do in a Zombie Apocolypse?

I would probably, try to get the safest place, and stay with my family, pass through every friend's house picking them and their families on the way. If we don't get to the safe place on time, or if its no more "safe" we would go and look for survival supplies (guns, food, medicine, etc.) and try to stay alive. icon biggrin What would you do in a Zombie Apocolypse?
