Salem Hospital emergency drill
On December 13, 2011, Salem Hospital conducted two emergency drills at the same time, in two separate locations on campus. The hospital's Emergency Preparedness Administrator wanted to test the reactions of staff in simulated real-world scenarios. The drills included a simulated fire in the Orthopedics Unit where staff needed to quickly relocate ten mock patients to a safe zone, while a sudden surge of seven mock trauma patients appeared in the Emergency Department from two car accidents. Members of the Salem Fire Department also took part in the drill.
